A teenage girl with a hood on walks into a restaurant, but when she notices that people stare at her disfigured face, she screams out in anger, telling it is not her fault she looks that way. In high school, an Indian-American boy named Ravi is constantly bullied and insulted.
A nerdy girl named Emily is taunted by a group of three popular girls, named Kelly, Bridget, and Heather, who abuse her despite Emily’s pleas that they could be friends. Another outcast named Dane is shown to having inherited an old secluded house in the woods. The outcasts are invited to a video shoot by a popular boy named Kurtis. They all agree that they like him and want to make sure he does not show up at an upcoming party.
All of the outcasts are shown to have disturbing family lives, Ravi’s family being cold and distant, Dane’s parents fighting all the time and another outcast named Jack, whose father ignores him completely. At the video shoot, two bullies named Bradley and Tommy confront Ravi and Dane, breaking Ravi’s camera for no reason. Bradley tells Dane that he bullies him because he knows Dane can not do anything about it. Back at school, Kurtis finds out what happened and starts a fight with Bradley.
